Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 540 -- MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS

SPONSOR:  Klindt (Levin)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations by a vote of 9 to 0.

This bill prohibits the Department of Revenue from collecting or
displaying on a driver's license information which can
individually identify the person unless there is specific
statutory authorization to collect the information.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say the bill prevents the Department of
Revenue from encoding personal information beyond what is
absolutely necessary for law enforcement purposes and only
information that has been approved by the Missouri General
Assembly.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Klindt.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
